Home Ignition Zone Assesment

H.I.Z. (Home Ignition Zone Assessment) is a service we are able to supply. It is free to the homeowner and available from Firefighters certified in doing them. Every year we pick a focus area to offer these assessments. With the homeowner permission we walk around the home and fill out a report provided by the DNR. It gives homeowners information on what around their property could potentially become fire hazards if a wildfire was nearby. It gives ideas on how to better protect your home from potential wildfires. There is no obligation from the homeowner and no penalties for things found wrong. It is just a friendly service that the Department with the aid of the DNR is able to provide.
